The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is working to build a people powered climate movement powerful enough to put the Chesapeake region and the entire country on the path to climate stability. They envision an economy where energy efficiency and truly clean sources of power sustain every aspect of our lives and dirty fossil fuels are phased out; where all communities share equitably in the promise of a clean and healthy environment; where millions of family-sustaining jobs form the backbone of our economy; and where the increase in the global average temperature is kept below 1.5 degrees Celsius, protecting the most vulnerable communities from the worst impacts of climate change.
CCAN's first 5k For The Planet is a peer-to-peer grassroots fundraising event. Passionate climate activists and avid 5k runners and walkers will come together on April 27th to get their steps while also helping raise money for CCAN! With your support, in 2025, CCAN will continue their fight against the build-out of fossil fuel infrastructure in Virginia, will work to make Polluters Pay, and strive to Electrify Everything!
CCAN's goal is to raise $10000 and so far they've raised $9677.99. I hope you'll make a donation in support my 5k to support CCAN and their climate campaigns.

We're walking and running for the climate and in support of the work of the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN). The mission of CCAN is to build a diverse movement powerful enough to put the Chesapeake region on the path to climate stability, while using their proximity to the nation’s capital to inspire action in neighboring states, around the country, and across the world. CCAN is the largest and oldest grassroots organization dedicated exclusively to fighting for bold and just solutions to climate change in the Chesapeake region of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. They also know that a vibrant democracy is central to our success and they work to defend democratic integrity wherever they can.
