A Spay-tacular Run Through NYC
$1,300 for 13.1 Miles

$1,300 for 13.1 Miles
Hello, I'm Maria! I'm super excited to run 13.1 miles through NYC with the PETA Pack this year on March 17th, as I've heard wonderful things about this race. More importantly though, I'm using this as an opportunity to raise money for PETA's vital spay/neuter program and awareness on the companion animal overpopulation crisis in NYC.
The above article highlights how spaying and neutering makes a huge difference: Just one unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in only six years, and in seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce an incredible 370,000 kittens. Communities spend millions of taxpayer dollars each year coping with problems that a failure to spay and neuter causes. The one-time cost of spaying or neutering is far lower than the expense involved in rounding up strays, feeding and housing abandoned animals, and euthanizing those for whom homes can’t be found.
As I sit on a comfy couch, in a warm home, with two companion kitties (Wendy and Sherman, both rescued by PETA) - my heart breaks reading about the many animals languishing in NYC shelters.
If you can, please support PETA on their quest to spay/neuter companion animals by donating to my $1,013.10 fundraiser goal today!
