Running in the City of Mermaids for the Animals PETA's Emergency Response Team Helps
UPDATE: I completed the race! Thanks to everyone who supported my run!
He Didn’t Even Have a Name.
I’ll never forget the first time I was asked to check on a dog who a caller said needed help. We arrived to find an extremely underweight dog wearing a heavy, tight collar and chained to a tree amidst filth and debris. He was surrounded by two overflowing trash cans with flies and gnats everywhere; landing on him non-stop. There was no food or water in sight, only cracked, dried, empty bowls well out of reach for him anyway. Those entrusted with his care didn’t even bother to name this sweetheart of a dog.
PETA’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) responds to calls for emergency assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, no matter where or when and your support is vital. That’s why this November I’ll be running in the Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon race weekend to help raise funds for PETA’s ERT. When animals need help PETA is there! I hope that you can be there for this team so that they can continue their incredible work for all God’s creatures. Animals deserve the same love, respect, kindness, and freedom from harm that we all do.
P.S. We gave that sweet dog a name--we called him Sugar Bear. This run is for you Sugar Bear and all the other animals that the angels of the ERT help.
