What is the registration fee?

Both the 5K and Fun Run are free for everyone! (Children must be accompanied by an adult.) Even though there is no registration fee, we encourage you to create a fundraising page or make a donation to show your StarKid support!

What is included with my race entry?

You will receive a StarKid t-shirt and a finisher’s medal if you register by May 20th.

Where do I park and is it free?

There is plenty of free parking available in adjacent lots surrounding Fairfax Corner. Additionally, a free parking garage includes an additional 7 levels of parking to our shopping center & is located adjacent to the movie theater.

How do I register for the 5K and /or Family Fun Run?

All participants must register online. Registration will remain open until 8am on race day, Sunday, June 5th. Click here to register!

Can I register on the day of the event?

Online registration is available on the day of the event until 8:00 am. However, we strongly recommend registering before you arrive at the event. Participants who register after May 20 are not guaranteed to receive a StarKid t-shirt or finisher’s medal.

Do I have to register to participate in the race?

Yes, to participate in the race both children and adults must register and then complete/accept the associated medical waivers.

Can I register more than one family member at a time?

Yes, you can add additional participants on the main registration page. After completing the first registration you will have the opportunity to register more people.

What time does the Fun Run start?

The Fun Run starts at 8:00 am. This race is not timed.

What time does the 5K start?

The 5K starts at 8:30 am.

Where is the Start/Finish line?

The start/finish line is on Grand Commons Avenue in front of Arhaus Furniture.

Can I pick up my t-shirt and race packet in advance ?

Yes, advance packet pick up is available during the following times:

Can I pick up my t-shirt and race packet on race day ?

Yes, race day packet pick up is available during the following times:

Sunday, June 5th – 6:30 - 8 a.m.

Is the event rain or shine?

Absent severe weather such as cloud-to-ground lightning or thunder prior to the start of the race, the StarKid 5K is a rain or shine event.

Where can I find my results?

5K Results will be available online after you finish the race, and on laptops in the Results Tent. Scan the Results QR Code posted around the site to see your time.

Will there be race awards?

Awards will be presented to 5K First Place Overall Male and Female finishers.

Will there be finisher medals?

All 5K and Fun Run participants will receive a finisher’s medal.

Will Medical Services be available at the event?

The StarKid 5K will have a fully staffed medical tent and an ambulance at the event site.

Will there be a water station on the course?

There will be one water station around the halfway point on the 5K course.

Am I allowed to bring headphones, strollers, and pets?

The use of personal music devices is discouraged while on the racecourse. Please run responsibly and be courteous to your fellow runners and to race officials.

Pets and strollers are welcome on the racecourse, but we kindly ask that you start last so that runners are not blocked.

Fundraising Questions

 

How do I fundraise for StarKid?

You can create your own fundraising page, donate to a fundraising page, and/or make a general StarKid donation!

1. Create your own fundraising page by visiting the StarKid Fundraise page. Setting up your page is quick and easy. Plus, you can share your page with family and friends and encourage them to donate. Top participants will be featured on the StarKid website home page!

2. Donate to a specific fundraising page by visiting the StarKid Donate page. You can search for a specific fundraiser using the “Search for Fundraiser” search bar or simply pick a fundraiser to donate to one as you scroll. You can donate to more than one fundraiser at a time.

3. Make a general StarKid donation by visiting the StarKid Donate page. Enter your donation amount in the “Make a General Donation” form box located on the right-hand side of the page

Is there a fundraising minimum?

There is no fundraising minimum. Every dollar raised has a positive impact on our patients, families, and community.

How do I create a fundraising page?

Setting up a fundraising page is easier than you may think. Simply follow the steps below. And feel free to reach out to us with questions along the way.

1. Create your username and password

2. Enter your profile information

3. Enter your personal fundraising page details

4. Click, "Create Page"

After creating your page, you can access the fundraising dashboard. The dashboard allows you to continue customizing your message, add photos, and even upload video! Plus, you can start reaching out to friends and family using the dashboard email tool.

How do I encourage people to participate with my fundraiser

Share your StarKid story and connection to Inova Children’s. This will help potential supporters relate to your message and goal. Then reach out to your friends and family and share your fundraising page. You can also reach out to colleagues, your company, neighbors, clubs, and any other person or group that makes sense for you. Social media, email, and face-to-face interactions (even virtual ones) are great fundraising channels!

How will donations support Inova Children’s Hospital?

Funds raised through StarKid will support Inova Children’s services across the Inova Health System. The money you raise makes an immediate impact when and where it is needed most. The ability to respond swiftly to needs as they arise is critical in providing ongoing support to some of our most vulnerable patients and families. In the past, these funds have been used to purchase equipment, send staff to educational conferences, assist with patient education, and much more
