What is Joybound Around Town?

Joybound Around Town is a community event celebrating the human-animal bond. It includes a one-mile pet walk — the Paw-rade — and fundraiser followed by a pet wellness festival. The fundraising campaign runs April 2 - May 19. On event day — May 19 — fundraisers, pet families, and community members come together for the free pet festival at Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza Shopping Center.

What can I expect from the event, day of?

  • 10 am: Walkers and fundraisers check-in for the Joybound Around Town Pet Walk “Paw-rade.
  • 10:30 am: The easy, 1-mile walk around downtown Walnut Creek begins.
  • 11 am: The free pet festival opens. Featured booths include pet products and services, adoptable animals, live music, stage demonstrations and activities for all ages.
  • 11:30 am: Joybound Around Town's annual Best-Dressed Pet contest begins. You can register as early as 10:30 am. People are encouraged to join the fun and dress up as a team costume too!
  • 12 pm: Stage demonstrations at the Plaza Stage.
  • 3 pm: Festival concludes. See you next year!

Where can I park?

Broadway Plaza guest parking is available in their Main Street Parking Garage and the South Broadway Parking Garage. The first three hours are free; no validation required. For more information, please visit Broadway Plaza’s website.

Where can I pick up my fundraising prizes?

Fundraising prizes will be available for pickup anytime between 11 am-3 pm at Joybound Around Town’s pet festival. 

Do I need to have a dog with me to participate?

Not at all! We welcome you to join the walk, visit the festival, and support Joybound with or without your pets. Cats and other socially adventurous pets are welcome too. 

May I walk with a stroller?

Yes! Strollers are welcome in the pet walk and festival.

What are the rules of the Paw-rade pet walk?

  1. Pets must be at least 4 months old.
  2. Current vaccinations and rabies licensing required.
  3. All pets must be on a six-foot or shorter leash (no retractable leashes) and under your control at all times.
  4. Please leave pets in heat at home.
  5. Pet water bowls will be provided.
  6. Monitor your pet for heat sensitivity.
  7. Be considerate - pick up after your pet.

How do I register?

Great question! Below are step-by-step instructions on how to navigate our fundraising website and sign up to participate in the Joybound Around Town fundraising campaign. 

Create a Fundraising Account:

If you have donated to or fundraised for an organization that uses Engaging Networks in the past, you can log in to your account. Otherwise, here are the steps to create a brand new account.

  1. On the webpage, select the button to sign up.
  2. Choose how you want to fundraiser (individually versas as a team).
  3. Create an account with the sign-up form.

Enter the details for your fundraising page

Once you create an account or log in, you’ll set up the details of your page. Follow the prompts to enter your fundraising details, including:

  • Your fundraising goal.
  • The end date / date you want to stop fundraising.
  • Your fundraising page headline.

Last, upload a profile picture for your fundraising page

  • We encourage adding one to personalize your page.
  • You can always change it later.

Edit your fundraising page

Once you create your page, you can customize it! Select Manage in the top-right of the page to open your editor. From there you can change the Story content, post updates, and change your page details such as your profile picture.
