The Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN) is working to build a people powered climate movement powerful enough to put the Chesapeake region and the entire country on the path to climate stability. They envision an economy where energy efficiency and truly clean sources of power sustain every aspect of our lives and dirty fossil fuels are phased out; where all communities share equitably in the promise of a clean and healthy environment; where millions of family-sustaining jobs form the backbone of our economy; and where the increase in the global average temperature is kept below 1.5 degrees Celsius, protecting the most vulnerable communities from the worst impacts of climate change.

CCAN's annual Polar Bear Plunge is their largest annual grassroots fundraising event. Each winter, hundreds of passionate climate activists come into contact with icy cold water to raise money for CCAN! With your support, in 2025, CCAN will continue their fight against the build-out of fossil fuel infrastructure in Virginia, will work to make Polluters Pay, and strive to Electrify Everything!
