On February 8th I'm taking the Polar Bear Plunge to stop fossil fuel practices in NC with my team!

I'm taking the Polar Plunge in support of the work of Appalachian Voices and Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN).

At Appalachian Voices, we work to end harmful fossil fuel practices such as mountaintop removal coal mining and construction of unnecessary fracked-gas pipelines. We also strive to shift to clean, 21st-century energy sources including energy efficiency, solar and wind power, as well as stand up to monopoly utility practices that put profits over people. Our ultimate goal is to establish economic solutions that create community wealth and sustain Appalachia’s mountains, forests and waters. This year, staff from across the Appalachian Region are participating in the plunge!

The mission of CCAN is to build a diverse movement to put the Chesapeake region on the path to climate stability. CCAN is the largest and oldest grassroots organization dedicated exclusively to fighting for bold and just solutions to climate change in the Chesapeake region of Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC. We envision a future where all communities share equitably in the promise of a clean and healthy environment.
